A MAN has woken up to a living nightmare after he found he lost three generations of his family following a horror crash.
The horrific crash happened on Sunday morning when the driver of the van collided head-on with a refrigerated truck.
Pedro and another brother survived the collision but his partner, their 10-month-old daughter, mum, brother, aunt, stepdad and cousin all died.
Pedro’s brother David said his brother was devastated when he found out both his partner and child had died.
He said: “He was devastated, he was crying a lot. Both of his loves are gone.”
The crash left their other brother Luie Lagud in a coma fighting for his life and he had to undergo surgery for spine and head injuries.
The family had travelled to Dunedin from Auckland to attend a relative’s funeral.
David had not joined the trip because he gets motion sickness and had to work a shift at a supermarket near his home.
The deadly crash happened on the journey back home.

Speaking to the New Zealand Herald, David said: “It’s just shocking, to happen that fast.
“In a blink of an eye, it’s all gone.”
David said he has spoken to Pedro who miraculously survived with minor injuries since the accident.
His brother told him Pedro was driving when the family left Christchurch but he later switched with stepdad Paul.
He said he played for a while with his daughter Mika before falling asleep.
But he later woke up to horrific scenes as the tragedy occurred.
David said: “He saw my dad’s body on the road and then my brother Luie, he was awake and then he collapsed.
“Then the next minute, the helicopter was there, taking my little brother to the hospital.”
He added that the family were “so happy” and had “good memories” before their death.
