Manchester United’s summer transfer window has been heavily criticised by many after failing to sign Frenkie de Jong all summer long and only bringing in three fresh faces to the squad, although the trio of signings are impressive additions nonetheless.
But Erik ten Hag has said that he is ‘happy’ with his squad, despite plenty of transfer struggles over the past few months, which could hint that United will not make any further additions. Elsewhere, however, Eric Bailly is closing in on a move away from the club, while it has been hinted that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also on the move.

Ten Hag ‘happy’ with United squad
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has seen his new club fail to land top transfer target Frenkie de Jong all summer, despite two months of negotiations, and has only managed to secure three new signings, even though he had hoped for at least double that amount.
But in his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, the Dutchman said that he is ‘happy’ with his squad as they head into their first game of the new Premier League season, and later replied with “I think so” when asked if he was content with his midfield options.
He said, via Forbes : “I am happy with the squad, I am happy with the signings up until now. We are working altogether. I am happy with the current squad and we need the right players.”

Eric Bailly closing in on Roma move
Eric Bailly is one of a number of defenders who are able to leave the club this summer after becoming surplus to requirements as United aim to generate extra transfer funds from player sales, and despite interest from elsewhere, he is set to join Jose Mourinho ’s Roma.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say that Roma are confident about signing Bailly from United in this summer transfer window on loan, with further rumours stating that an option to buy clause will be inserted into the deal.
But despite the difficulties in agreeing personal terms with the Ivorian, the Italian outfit are seemingly optimistic about getting a deal done for the centre back, who struggled for minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season.
Vieira refuses to comment on Wan-Bissaka
United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another player from the club’s backline who could be moved on this summer after struggling to impress Ten Hag in pre-season, and the right back has previously been linked with a return to his former club Crystal Palace before the transfer window slams shut.
Wan-Bissaka was a favourite at Selhurst Park during his time at the club after graduated through the academy, and ended up making 46 appearances in two seasons in south London, before being sold to the Red Devils for an initial £45 million in 2019. But now, current Palace manager Patrick Vieira has dropped a potential hint that his side are looking at re-signing Wan-Bissaka
Vieira refused to comment on the player when asked about recent rumours, saying, via Manchester Evening News : “When names are going about it’s always difficult to talk about. We already have a couple of players on the right-hand-side that have done well since I’ve been at the club.”
