Latest Championship 2022/23 odds: Promotion, play-off and relegation odds as Norwich City head title betting

Norwich City head Betfred’s betting list to win the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship. The Canaries head a wide-open market at 11/2 (around a 15.4% probability) to make yet another swift return to the Premier League having finished bottom of the pile in the top flight last season.

Watford, another side that will benefit greatly from the parachute payments, are next in the betting at 7/1 (12.5%) to make a swift return under new boss Rob Edwards, who was tempted to Vicarage Road despite having won the League 2 title with Forest Green.

The layers don’t seem to rate Burnley’s prospects of bouncing back quickly despite the appointment of Vincent Kompany as first-team manager. The Clarets are double Watford’s odds at 14/1 and they have work to do to replace big-name players like Nick Pope and James Tarkowski.

Huddersfield made it all the way to the play-off final in 2022 but odds of 18/1 to land the title suggests Betfred don’t rate their prospects of taking the step up required to dominate the division. The Terriers are tipped at 5/2 to repeat their top six finish for this season too.

Meanwhile, newcomers Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United and Sunderland will all be looking to secure their safety as soon as possible. The Latics return as League One champions after two seasons in the third-tier while Rotherham continue their yo-yo streak for the sixth successive season and Sunderland return to the second tier for the first time in six years.

At the other end of the table, Rotherham are red-hot favourites to oblige in the ‘to get relegated’ market. Paul Warne’s side lost ten games in League One last year, a statistic that doesn’t bode well for life in a higher division. If you fancy The Millers to outperform expectations, they are 7/2 to finish in the top half and 10/1 to make the top 6.

Reading just about survived the dreaded drop last term, averaging less than a point per game, and boss Paul Ince has seen an exodus in central midfielders in the summer so it’s no surprise that the Royals are prominent (5/2) in the relegation market.

Wigan, back in the Championship after winning League One, appear to have better than average prospects of staying in the division. Leam Richardson’s side are 4/1 to go down, which implies an approximate 80% probability of staying up.
