Conor McGregor told to “go be a celebrity” after latest outbursts

Jorge Masvidal has torn into Conor McGregor over his latest outburst during which he claimed the American deliberately withdrew from his bout against Leon Edwards.

The Irishman is currently stepping up his own recovery from a broken leg injury suffered in a second consecutive defeat to Dustin Poirier in July.

And he has feuded with Masvidal on social media over the postponement of his recent welterweight duel with Edwards at UFC 269.

But Masvidal has now responded to McGregor’s claims in a brutal rant aimed at the Irishman who he has told to be a “celebrity”.

“I think he’s a bitter old man, just staring at the TV all day. It sucks for him that he’s broken,” Masvidal told the MMA Hour.

“He’s gotten broken so many times that he can’t put himself back together, as far as fighting goes. Go have a regular life bro, be a celebrity.

“He’s mad because (Leon) is signed to whatever the f*** his company is called, and they were going to collect the biggest paycheck they were ever going to collect off my ass beating Leon’s ass.

“It’s not going to happen anymore, so you can see the bitterness getting exposed, but he just picked the wrong dude.

“He could still get this paycheck, but this corny ass midget doesn’t want to f**king tell his guy ‘Yo, just wait up, and f**king fight him later and we’ll still get this paycheck.'”

Masvidal was looking to revive his welterweight title hopes after suffering back-to-back defeats against champion Kamaru Usman in his previous outings.

But he was handed a devastating blow after being forced to abandon his shot at top-five contender Edwards over his undisclosed injury in training camp.

McGregor is also currently rehabilitating from an injury and has returned to early boxing training after a spell out of action with a broken leg.

And the 33-year-old is targeting a much-anticipated return to the cage in the middle stages of next year, with the likes of Max Holloway and Michael Chandler setting out their stools for a potential challenge.

The Irish star’s current contract has two fights remaining with the UFC and he will hope that he can approach a top-five contender at 155lbs in his final fight.

This could dictate his future in the sport as he faces calls to make a permanent switch to the boxing ring after staging a mega-money contest with Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

YouTube star Jake Paul has called out the superstar on social media on several occasions and has set a new deadline for a meeting between the pair to take place.

“I will fight everybody,” Paul told Bleacher Report. “This started with me calling out McGregor.

“And people were like ‘this kids crazy, Conor will kill him’. But now this fight could happen within the next 24 months one hundred percent.

“I will beat him, people are seeing how serious I am being about this and are changing the way they think about it.”
