The Papa John’s Trophy sees more group matches take place this midweek.
The Exiles are still managerless following Michael Flynn’s departure at the start of this month. The two meet in Southern Group F in what will be both sides’ second game of this year’s competition.
Newport overcame Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in their first group stage game, whilst the young Gunners lost out 2-1 away at Swindon Town.
Ahead of the game, here is all you need to know.
When and where is it?
The match is on Tuesday, October 12 and takes place at Newport’s Rodney Parade stadium.
Kick-off is 7pm.
Can I watch it?
The game should be available to watch through iFollow, as per usual Papa John’s Trophy games.
Winners get three points for a win like normal, but if a game finishes level after 90 minutes, it goes to penalties.
The resulting winner then gets awarded two points with the loser picking up one point.
Skybet chalk up Newport as clear favourites, with the Welsh side priced up at 19/20.
Arsenal are 11/5 to seal the win, with the game marked up at 12/5 to go to penalties.
Strict stipulations apply regarding team selections.
EFL clubs must have at least four ‘qualifying’ outfield players in their line-ups, with players having to meet requirements such as either having started the previous game or with 40 or more first-team appearances in their career.
As for Arsenal, Kevin Betsy is likely to field under-23s regulars in the shape of Omar Rekik and Zak Swanson.
He is permitted to pick two players aged over 21, provided they have more than 40 senior games under their belt. However, it is unlikely anyone on the fringes of Mikel Arteta’s first team will be involved or risked due to the current international break.
