Abraham tipped for Arsenal transfer as Chelsea are warned about “cutting ties”

Jermaine Jenas believes that Tammy Abraham could end up at Arsenal this summer – and feels Chelsea would be making a mistake by letting the forward leave permanently.

Abraham emerged as a hugely important player for the Blues in the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 15 goals in 34 Premier League appearances and flourishing under Frank Lampard.

But since Thomas Tuchel has come in the 23-year-old has barely featured, and was not even included as a substitute in the team’s victorious Champions League final against Manchester City last month.

Abraham now looks almost certain to move on this summer, and it will be intriguing to see where he ends up.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Football, Jenas named a number of teams Abraham could be a good signing for, and suggested Chelsea should consider letting him go on another loan rather than selling him.

“I think he’d be a great signing for anyone,” Jenas said. “He had that special relationship with Aston Villa fans in the Championship but they’ve now got Ollie Watkins.

“I would like to think that Tammy could maybe go on a loan. I don’t think it’s the time for Chelsea to be completely cutting ties.

“You’ve got Watford, who have just come up. Brighton are desperate for someone to get them goals. Southampton is another team you look at and wonder if he could do a job.

“He could even go to Arsenal, if Chelsea let him. Mikel Arteta is insistent on playing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the left. He’s not going to go to Tottenham if Harry Kane is still there. West Ham?

“He’s a suitable player for a number of teams and I think a lot will be looking at his services.”

Jenas, meanwhile, was recently pranked by fellow Euros ITV pundit Ally McCoist ahead of the upcoming clash between England and Scotland.

McCoist teamed up with Heineken to convince Jermaine that he’d been given the honour of modelling a specially made commemorative suit to mark the 60 th anniversary of the European Championship.

What Jermaine was not to know was that McCoist was directing the suit design, photo shoot and a fake live broadcast behind the scenes.

McCoist briefed the tailor to provide the surprise addition to the beautifully cut suit – a giant Saltire (Flag of Scotland) embroidered on the back.

After he was duped, Jenas said: “I was very flattered to be asked to model the anniversary suit, it was made by a brilliant Savile Row tailor

“I like my fashion and nothing seemed out of the ordinary about the shoot until I realised that I was being broadcast with the flag of our biggest rivals spread across my back.

“When Ally appeared out of nowhere, the penny dropped as there were a few other Scottish references throughout the day.

“Hopefully, England will take the victory on June 18 and that might keep even Ally McCoist quiet.”
